Description
Terroir al Límit Terra de Cuques Negre is the new name for the estate's former Torroja village wine, now drawn from several Priorat villages.
Dominik Huber renamed the cuvée in order to bring in fruit from beyond Torroja, and this is the second release to include small vineyards in the cooler, higher terroirs of Poboleda and La Morera, towards the Montsant ranges. The blend remains an equal split of Carignan and Grenache from sites above 350 metres, among the highest old-vine red plots in Priorat; the youngest vines are more than thirty years old. Most sit on llicorella slate, with a portion of the Grenache on sparser limestone and clay. Declassified material from the estate's top vineyards also finds its way here. The grapes were hand-harvested and layered into tank as whole bunches, their own weight releasing enough juice to start fermentation, and the wine was raised for fourteen months in 3,500-litre Stockinger foudres and concrete.
Approachable now with a decant and good for a decade. Serve at 16-18°C with grilled lamb, mushroom dishes or a mature Manchego.
