Description
Terroir Sense Fronteres Vertebra de la Figuera is a whole-bunch Garnacha from three old-vine plots high above the village of La Figuera.
La Figuera sits in the county of Priorat, but its Garnacha is classified under DO Montsant rather than DOQ Priorat, close to the old slate-mining villages of El Lloar and El Molar. The three plots behind this cuvée lie at 700 to 800 metres on the slopes of the Montsant range, among the highest vineyards in the region, on red clay and limestone with layers of gypsum that make the soils alkaline rather than acidic. Growers here call their vines Garnatxa Fina for the elegance and freshness the site brings. The oldest vines used are eighty years old and the average is sixty. The wine is fermented entirely as whole bunches, raised in concrete for eight months and bottled unfiltered, so there is no oak between the drinker and the fruit.
Drink over the next six to eight years alongside roast lamb, grilled vegetables or a mushroom tart. Serve at 16°C.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
