Description

The Hilt Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a plush, silky yet powerful Pinot from California's cool Sta. Rita Hills.

The Hilt's estate sits on the wind-battered western side of the Sta. Rita Hills, and two of its key vineyards, Radian and Bentrock, feed into this blend. Radian brings darker, more brooding fruit and Bentrock adds generosity, and together they strike a fine balance. The sunny 2019 vintage gave plenty of fruit depth: red raspberry, black cherry, black tea, black pepper and orange blossom, with earthy and toasty notes and a deft touch of stem inclusion. It's plush and silky, but coiled and powerful underneath.

Open at 15 to 16 degrees with duck breast, mushroom risotto or lamb. It's ready tonight but will also repay a few years in the cellar.
