The Paper Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The Paper Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc is a textural, oak-influenced Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from Nautilus Estate.

This is a more serious, layered take on Marlborough's signature grape from the Hill-Smith family's estate. Oak is used to add texture and a savoury, nutty edge, taking the wine away from the usual zesty style and closer in spirit to fine white Bordeaux. Citrus peel, beeswax and green apple meet restrained mineral notes, and the palate carries an intense citrus core with subtle oak and an elegant, textural finish. At 13.5% alcohol it has good weight.

Serve chilled but not icy, at around 10 degrees, with grilled whiting, chicken and leek pie or asparagus with hollandaise. It should gain complexity over the next few years.
