Description
Théo Dancer Vin de France Aragón Grenache, in magnum, is a whole-bunch southern Rhône Grenache made by a Burgundian.
Théo Dancer's micro-négoce takes tiny volumes from four vineyards around France, giving him the chance to work with growers he admires and with varieties absent from the family holdings. Like his father he has a strong affection for Grenache, and the vineyard he buys from lies at Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes, between Orange and Montélimar and close to Cairanne. It is a shaded site looking out to Mont Ventoux, its soils covered in the smooth galets roulés that characterise much of the southern Rhône. The vineyard has been farmed organically for years, which was a large part of the appeal. Dancer works the fruit with whole bunches and handles it much as he would Pinot Noir, so the wine comes out fresher and more aromatic than southern Grenache usually does. This is the magnum bottling.
Drink over the next five to eight years with grilled lamb, ratatouille or roast tomatoes. Serve at 16-18°C.
