Description
Thibaud Boudignon Anjou is a dry Chenin Blanc from schist soils around Savennières, the entry point to one of the Loire's most sought-after ranges.
Thibaud Boudignon works on his own account and farms a scattering of small parcels in and around Savennières, in the belt of dark Anjou schist and sandstone west of Angers. The farming is organic and done largely by hand, with ploughing between the rows, low yields and picking in several passes through the vineyard so that only ripe, healthy fruit is taken. Anjou Blanc is the appellation for dry Chenin across the wider district, and here it draws on parcels that sit outside the Savennières boundary. The wine is pressed whole-bunch, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged on its lees in barrel, worked in the same way as the estate's more expensive bottlings.
Dry, textured and food-friendly, it goes with roast chicken, grilled fish and soft cheeses; serve at around 11 degrees.
