Thibaud Boudignon Anjou à Françoise 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Thibaud Boudignon Anjou à Françoise is a dry Chenin Blanc from the estate's older schist parcels, offered in magnum.

A Francoise is a selection from Thibaud Boudignon's older Chenin Blanc vines on the schist of the Anjou Noir, west of Angers, and sits above the straight Anjou blanc in the range. The vineyards are farmed by hand at low yields on hard, dark schist rather than the limestone of the middle Loire, which gives the wine a firmer and more mineral frame. Grapes are picked ripe in successive passes, pressed slowly, fermented with indigenous yeast in barrel and left on fine lees for a long elevage with little intervention and restrained sulphur. The result is a dry Chenin built for the table and for the cellar.

Dense, dry and structured rather than aromatic, it suits turbot, veal, roast chicken and aged cheese; serve at 12 degrees and decant a young magnum.
