Description
Thibaud Boudignon Rosé de Loire is a dry rosé made by a grower far better known for his dry Chenin Blanc from Savennières.
Thibaud Boudignon set up on his own account in Anjou and has since become one of the most closely followed names in the Loire, working small parcels around Savennières and Anjou on the dark schist and sandstone soils of the region's left bank. The farming is organic and largely manual, with ploughing in place of herbicide and low yields taken as a matter of course. Rosé de Loire is a dry appellation covering rosés from across Anjou, Touraine and Saumur, and by regulation the blend must be led by the Cabernets, with Grolleau, Gamay, Pineau d'Aunis and Côt permitted alongside. The wine is pressed straight to juice and fermented cool, then bottled early to keep it fresh.
Bone dry and built for the table rather than the pool, it suits charcuterie, grilled fish and summer salads; serve at around 9 degrees.
