Thomas Wines Braemore Semillon 2026

Thomas Wines Braemore Semillon is a dry Hunter Valley Semillon and the 27th consecutive vintage from this vineyard.

A dry growing season through to véraison, then brief rain early in the new year, delivered ripe fruit with balanced natural acidity and another generous crop in 2026. Picking started on 22 January and the whole vineyard was in by the 30th. The fruit was sorted, whole-bunch pressed to keep phenolics down, fermented with a neutral yeast so the variety speaks for itself, and rested four weeks on lees. This is consecrated ground for Hunter Semillon drinkers: free-draining sandy flats at Pokolbin, once sea floor, shared by about twelve growers including Tyrrell's, and bought by Andrew Thomas in 2017 after decades of working its fruit.

Pure and precise, with lemon, lanolin and a salty mineral finish, concentrated and tightly wound but approachable straight away. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. It is very good with oysters, but works just as well with roast chicken or a bowl of steamed mussels.
