Thomas Wines Two of a Kind Shiraz 2023

Thomas Wines Two of a Kind Shiraz is a medium-bodied Shiraz drawing on three Hunter sites and one in McLaren Vale.

Three Hunter sites make up 58 per cent of the 2023, those being Black Cluster, Fordwich Hill and Cote D'Or, with the remaining 42 per cent grown by Barry Clarke at Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. Each batch fermented on its own, blending happened shortly after pressing, and the wine spent sixteen months in 300-litre hogsheads. The mid-century Australian habit of blending across regions produced some remarkable wines before single-vineyard thinking took over, and Andrew Thomas keeps the practice alive with fruit good enough to make the argument for him.

Generous and supple, classic dark fruit with chocolate, floral lift and alluring spice. Serve at 16 degrees. Lamb chops, beef and Guinness pie or a plate of hard cheese with quince paste will all suit.
