Toolangi Vineyard E Block Pinot Noir 2018

Toolangi Vineyard E Block Pinot Noir is a single-block Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from Dixons Creek.

E Block was picked out as the source of the best Pinot on this Dixons Creek property, planted to MV6 and seventeen years old at the time. Half the fruit went in as whole bunches after a short cold soak, and fermentation was wild. Twenty-five days on skins is a long maceration, which builds structure without needing much oak, and the wine spent eight months in French barrels with a fifth new before bottling unfined and unfiltered. This was the first release under Kaspar Hermann, who came to Toolangi from Mount Mary and shifted the emphasis toward freshness.

Dark cherry and forest floor with a fine, drying tannin frame and good length. Serve at 14 degrees. Duck confit, roast pork belly or mushrooms on toast; decant it briefly and use a wide glass if you have one.
