Toolangi Vineyard F Block Chardonnay 2025

Toolangi Vineyard F Block Chardonnay is a Yarra Valley Chardonnay from own-rooted Gingin vines on the estate's smallest plot.

Own-rooted Gingin vines, twenty-four years old, on the smallest and highest plot at the property: six-tenths of a hectare of shallow rocky soil with white clay running through it, on the forest edge and in the afternoon shadow of a hill. A warm, dry spring ran on into summer in 2025 and delivered an early, compressed harvest with phenolic ripeness to match. The bunches were pressed whole into French barriques, split evenly between new, second-fill and third-fill wood, for wild primary fermentation and malolactic conversion, then ten months on lees. Alcohol finished at 13.5 per cent.

Powerful and precise, white peach and citrus over the site's chalky mineral spine, long and dry. Twelve to thirteen degrees. Serve with roast chicken, prawns in butter or a firm alpine cheese; a decade in the cellar will do it no harm.
