Toolangi Vineyard Pauls Lane Pinot Noir 2025

Toolangi Vineyard Pauls Lane Pinot Noir is a whole-bunch-influenced Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from a single strip of E Block.

Ten rows of twenty-six-year-old MV6, continuing east from the original Paul's Lane parcel on ground that behaves unlike the rest of the vineyard. The 2025 season opened warm and dry and stayed that way, producing an early, compressed harvest with deep colour and ripe phenolics. Picking was on 24 February. Half the fruit went in as whole bunches and half as whole berries, spending eighteen days on skins before pressing to French barriques with ten per cent new oak for ten months. Alcohol finished at 13.6 per cent, which is where Yarra Pinot should sit.

Vivid and juicy, dark cherry and blood plum with spice, earth and a silky, chalky finish. Serve at 14 degrees. Roast duck, pork with fennel or a plate of mushrooms and lentils; decant it if you have half an hour.
