Tormaresca Masseria Maime Negroamaro Salento IGT is a single-estate red from the Salento, the sun-baked heel of Italy.

Masseria Maìme is Tormaresca's estate in the Salento, on the narrow peninsula between the Adriatic and the Ionian, where flat land, iron-rich red soil over limestone and near-constant sea breezes make up the growing conditions. Negroamaro is the peninsula's signature red grape; its name is usually read as a compound of black and bitter, and it has been grown here for centuries, long treated as a workhorse for blending before growers began bottling it seriously on its own. Tormaresca was founded by the Antinori family, in the wine trade since 1385, as their southern Italian project, and Masseria Maime is the estate they reserve for this variety. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then matured in French oak barrels.

Serve at around 17 degrees with grilled lamb, roast pork, orecchiette with ragù or aged pecorino. It drinks well on release and will keep for several years.
