Description
Tormaresca Neprica Negroamaro IGT Puglia is a generous southern Italian red from the Antinori family's estates in Puglia.
The Antinori family of Tuscany saw Puglia's potential for quality wine early and established Tormaresca in 1998. Today it has two estates: Bocca di Lupo near Minervino Murge in the Castel del Monte DOC, and Masseria Maìme in the Salento, where olive groves sit alongside vineyards of Negroamaro, Primitivo, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Negroamaro is the signature red grape of the Salento, well suited to the heat and sea breezes of the heel of Italy. For Neprica it is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and rested for a few months in steel and bottle, with no oak, to keep the fruit forward and the tannins supple.
Serve slightly cool, around 15 to 16 degrees, with pizza, orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe, grilled meats or eggplant parmigiana. It is made for drinking young and needs no decanting.
