Toro Albalá Don PX Solera 1922 375ml

Toro Albalá Don PX Solera 1922 375ml is a sweet Pedro Ximénez drawn from an old solera in Montilla-Moriles.

The number refers to the year José María Toro Albalá moved the bodega into the old power plant at Aguilar de la Frontera, and to the solera started then. Grapes are picked by hand in mid-August and left a week under the Andalucían sun to raisin and concentrate before pressing. A portion of the finished wine is drawn from that 1922 solera itself and refreshed with younger material in the traditional way, which is how a blend like this holds depth and energy at the same time. This is the first release under the name.

Cocoa, dried fruit and mocha against orange peel and hazelnut, sweet but carried by good acidity to a polished finish. Serve at 12 to 14 degrees in a small glass. Try it with dark chocolate, aged manchego, or simply on its own after dinner.
