Description
Triennes Rosé IGP Mediterranee is a Provencal rose from a Var estate founded by two of Burgundy's most respected growers.
Triennes lies at Nans-les-Pins in the Var, inland from the coast and high enough for cool nights to slow ripening. The domaine was established in 1989 by Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, who were drawn to the limestone soils and altitude of this quieter corner rather than to the fashionable coastal strip. Their choice looked eccentric at the time, when Provencal rose was still largely a local drink rather than an international one. The rose draws on Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Merlot, picked early and pressed gently, then fermented cool in stainless steel so the wine stays fresh. It is bottled under the broad Mediterranee IGP rather than a village appellation, which gives the estate latitude in how it blends.
Serve well chilled with grilled fish, salads and Mediterranean vegetables.
