Trimbach Pinot Noir Réserve 2023

Trimbach Pinot Noir Reserve is the house's oak matured Alsace red, made in the same dry, structured idiom as its whites.

Pinot Noir is the only red variety permitted in Alsace, and Trimbach have taken it increasingly seriously as the region's reds have improved, working with older plantings on the limestone slopes around Ribeauville. The Reserve is destemmed and fermented in vat with a gentle extraction that favours perfume over weight, then matured in oak barrel with only a small proportion of new wood so that the fruit stays in front. The result is a mid weight red with fine, sinewy tannin and the firm acidity that runs through everything the house bottles. All Trimbach vineyards are now farmed organically.

Medium bodied and savoury, it suits duck, roast veal, mushroom dishes and soft cheese; serve at 15 to 16 degrees.
