Trimbach Riesling Frédéric Emile 1.5L MAGNUM 2017

Trimbach Riesling Frédéric Emile is the house's benchmark dry Riesling, drawn from Grand Cru slopes above Ribeauvillé, here in magnum.

Trimbach has been making wine at Ribeauvillé since 1626, and the Cuvée Frédéric Emile is named for the nineteenth-century family member who established the house's reputation. The fruit comes from steep terraces immediately behind the cellars that fall within the Geisberg and Osterberg Grand Crus, marl, limestone and sandstone soils that the family has never chosen to label as Grand Cru, preferring the cuvée name. Vinification follows the austere house method: whole-bunch pressing, fermentation to complete dryness in neutral tanks, no malolactic and no new oak. The wine is then held for several years in bottle before release, and magnums are made in small quantity.

Dry, powerful and built for the cellar, it suits lobster, rich river fish, roast poultry and mature Munster; serve at around 12 degrees.
