Trimbach Riesling Geisberg 1.5L MAGNUM 2018

Trimbach Riesling Geisberg is a bone dry Alsace grand cru Riesling from the steep slope above Ribeauville, offered here in magnum.

Geisberg rises steeply above Ribeauville on marl, limestone and sandstone, a south facing grand cru that has long supplied the backbone of the house's most serious Rieslings. Trimbach has been based in Ribeauville since 1626 and the estate is now run by the thirteenth generation of the family. The style is uncompromisingly dry: whole bunch pressing, fermentation taken out to full dryness, ageing in large neutral oak foudres and stainless steel with no new wood, then extended time in bottle before release. The result is a Riesling built on acidity and stony extract rather than fruit weight, and one that rewards patience in the cellar.

Dry, firm and saline, it suits river trout, roast chicken, choucroute and mature hard cheese; serve at 10 to 12 degrees and decant the magnum if opening it young.
