Trimbach Riesling Réserve 2022

Trimbach Riesling Reserve is a step up from the house's classic Riesling, built from older vines on its better slopes.

The Reserve sits between the classic Riesling and the single vineyard wines in the Trimbach hierarchy, drawing on older plantings on the limestone and marl slopes around Ribeauville and Bergheim. The winemaking does not change: whole bunch pressing, a slow cool fermentation in stainless steel, no malolactic fermentation, no oak, then time on fine lees before bottling. What the older vines add is depth and length rather than weight. Residual sugar of 5.1 grams per litre sits well inside the dry range for a wine of this concentration. All Trimbach vineyards are now farmed organically, and the wine is also offered in half bottle.

Dry, firm and long, it suits richer fish, poultry in cream sauce and Alsace charcuterie; serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
