Description

Two Paddocks Picnic Pinot Noir is an easy-going, organically grown Pinot Noir from Central Otago, designed for drinking young.

The estate farms certified organic vineyards across Gibbston, Alexandra and Bannockburn. It was founded by Sam Neill in 1993, with a first vineyard at Gibbston. Fruit for this release was picked by hand between late March and mid-April, almost entirely destemmed, and given a cold soak before fermentation and more time on skins afterwards. Maturation took ten months in one- to four-year-old French barriques with barely any new oak, keeping the wine fresh and fruit-led. Winemaker Dean Shaw sees it as an introduction to the pleasures of Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Pour it lightly chilled with charcuterie, grilled chicken, lamb koftas or a beetroot salad, and enjoy it over the next few years.
