Valli Vineyards Waitaki Vineyard Pinot Noir 375ml is Valli's perfumed, cool-climate Waitaki Pinot in a half bottle.

Few New Zealand vineyards sit on limestone, which is what makes the Waitaki Valley in North Otago so interesting for Pinot Noir. The season here is cool and long, and the wines lean towards finesse, perfume and a mineral, saline edge. Valli, the Otago label begun by Grant Taylor and now shared with winemaker Jen Parr, makes this wine from its Waitaki vineyard. The 2022 is pale and translucent, with red fruits, pomegranate, thyme and cedar, spice notes of cardamom and allspice, fine tannins and a long, salty finish.

A half bottle suits a quiet night in. Serve just below room temperature with grilled salmon, roast quail or a beetroot and feta salad; it has the energy to keep for years.
