Vasse Felix Classic Dry Red is a juicy, easy-going Margaret River red blend made to enjoy young.

Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, with Merlot adding softness and a dash of Malbec bringing colour and perfume. The Classic range is the most approachable tier from the region's pioneering winery, first planted in 1967, and the focus here is on fresh fruit and drinkability. Expect cassis and blackberry with lifted violet and rose florals and a savoury hint of mushroom, followed by a creamy, bright entry and fine, gentle tannins that give just enough shape.

A slight chill, to around 14 to 16 degrees, suits this style. Pizza, lamb burgers, a midweek pasta or a plate of charcuterie are all good matches. Drink it over the next couple of years while the fruit is at its brightest.
