Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 2024

Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay is the estate's flagship white and one of Margaret River's leading Chardonnays.

Heytesbury takes its name from the Holmes à Court family's company, which bought the winery in 1987. The wine draws on the best Chardonnay parcels across the estate's vineyards, and wild fermentation in French oak barrels with extended lees contact builds texture, savoury complexity and a flinty edge. Chief winemaker Virginia Willcock has shaped it into a powerful yet precise style. The 2024 shows peach, mandarin peel and preserved lemon with pine, native sage, roasted cashew and struck flint, a deeper fruit core than in cooler years, and a long, dry, tightly structured finish.

Give it time in the glass, or a short decant, and serve at around 12 degrees. Lobster, pork belly with crackling or roast chicken with truffle butter match its weight, and it will reward cellaring for many years.
