Vasse Felix Syrah 2024

Vasse Felix Syrah is a perfumed, spicy Margaret River red that leans to the elegant side of the grape.

Calling it Syrah signals the style: fragrant, fine-boned and peppery, closer in spirit to the northern Rhône than to the rich Shiraz of warmer regions. The winemaking focuses on perfume and freshness, with oak kept in a supporting role. Boysenberry and raspberry mix with rose petal, curry leaf and pink peppercorn, and a subtle wax note adds interest. The texture is mouth-filling and even, with lively freshness and fine tannin, and liquorice flavours lead into a finish of white pepper and a hint of Szechuan spice.

Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with duck breast, peppered venison or lamb shoulder with Middle Eastern spices. It will cellar well for several years.
