Description
Veuve Laperrière Rosé is a dry French sparkling rosé from the same house as its blanc de blancs.
French sparkling rosé is usually built on Pinot Noir, either by running the juice off the skins after a few hours of contact or by blending a small proportion of still red wine into a white base before the second fermentation. Either route gives the pale salmon to light cherry colour and the touch of red fruit and gentle tannin that separates a rosé from a blanc de blancs. The base wine is fermented dry, given its bubble by a second fermentation and aged on lees, which softens the fruit and builds a finer bead before the wine is finished brut. Pinot Noir brings a little more weight and grip than a white base alone, which is why sparkling rosé generally sits better at the table.
Serve it well chilled as an aperitif, or with charcuterie, salmon and summer berry desserts; it suits the table better than most white sparklings.
