Vietti Barbaresco Riserva Rabaja Wooden Boxed 2019

Vietti Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the cru most associated with the appellation's power.

Rabajà lies on a south-facing ridge in the commune of Barbaresco, on calcareous marl that gives wines more structure and weight than most of the zone. Barbaresco sits closer to the Tanaro river than Barolo and ripens a little earlier, but a Riserva here is held back for years before release. Vietti, based at Castiglione Falletto since the nineteenth century, ferments with native yeast and ages this wine in large oak casks, then keeps it in bottle until it is ready.

Decant well ahead and serve at 17 degrees with braised beef, game or aged Parmigiano. It will develop for two decades.
