Description

Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone comes from a single vineyard in the heart of Castiglione Falletto.

Scarrone is a Barolo cru, and planting Barbera on ground that could grow Nebbiolo is a deliberate choice the Vietti family has made since the 1960s. The site is calcareous marl on a south-facing slope, which gives a Barbera with more depth and structure than the variety usually shows. Fermentation is in stainless steel and the wine is then aged in French oak.

Serve at 16 degrees with agnolotti, braised beef or aged cheese. Drink over the next ten years.
