Description
Description
Vietti Roero Arneis is a dry white from the sandy hills on the left bank of the Tanaro, north of Alba.
Arneis was close to extinction by the 1960s, kept alive in odd rows among Nebbiolo, and Alfredo Currado of Vietti was one of the growers who tracked down the remaining plantings and bottled it on its own, which is why the estate is credited with saving the variety. Roero's sandy soils suit it, giving a wine of pear and white flower character with a soft finish. It is fermented cool in stainless steel without oak.
Serve at 10 degrees with antipasti, seafood or fresh cheeses. Drink within three years.
