Description
Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau Museum Release is the flagship red of Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, one of the historic estates of the Southern Rhône. The wine takes its identity from La Crau, the celebrated high plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape that has been at the heart of the Brunier family estate for generations. Its exposed position and covering of large rounded stones, known as galets roulés, make La Crau one of the appellation’s most recognisable and important terroirs.
Grenache forms the backbone of the blend, supported by Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Vieux Télégraphe has long favoured a traditional, restrained approach that allows the vineyard rather than winemaking technique to define the wine, producing a particularly classical expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape built for ageing. As a Museum Release, the 2015 offers the added attraction of more than a decade of bottle development, bringing maturity to a wine whose reputation rests firmly on its ability to evolve over time.
Decant carefully for around an hour and serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, game, slow-cooked beef or traditional Provençal dishes.
