Description
Vignobles Ludovic Pierrot Hautes Côtes de Beaune Bourgogne Rouge is a Pinot Noir from the hills rising behind the famous slope of the Côte de Beaune.
Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune covers the plateau and side valleys west of the Côte itself, generally between 300 and 400 metres, which makes it appreciably higher and cooler than the villages below. Vines ripen later here, and for most of the twentieth century the appellation was regarded as marginal; warmer growing seasons have turned it into one of the more rewarding corners of Burgundy for honestly priced Pinot Noir. The bedrock is the same Jurassic limestone and marl that runs beneath the grands crus, though the soils are thinner and stonier. Winemaking follows regional custom: fermentation in open vats, gentle extraction and maturation in seasoned barrels.
Serve at cool room temperature, around 15°C, with roast chicken, charcuterie or mushroom dishes.
