Vignobles Ludovic Pierrot Santenay Premier Cru 'Clos de la Comme' 2023

Vignobles Ludovic Pierrot Santenay Premier Cru 'Clos de la Comme' is a premier cru Pinot Noir from the southern end of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune.

Burgundy grades its vineyards in four tiers, from regional appellations up through village and premier cru to grand cru, and the classification was drawn from centuries of observation about which parcels reliably produce the best wine. Santenay has a number of premier crus, of which La Comme is among the largest and best regarded, running along the slope beside Les Gravières at the Chassagne-Montrachet end of the commune on stony, well drained limestone. A clos denotes an enclosed parcel, a term that goes back to monastic vineyard holdings. Fruit from a site of this standing is normally fermented in open vats and matured a year or more in French oak.

Serve at around 16°C with roast game birds, beef or a mature hard cheese; it is worth cellaring for five to twelve years.
