Viña Ventisquero Pangea Syrah 2018

Viña Ventisquero Pangea Syrah is a concentrated, polished Syrah from the granite slopes of Apalta.

Pangea began as a collaboration between Ventisquero and Australian winemaker John Duval, the former Penfolds chief winemaker best known for Grange, and it helped put Chilean Syrah on the map. The fruit comes from hillside vineyards in Apalta, in the Colchagua Valley, planted on granitic soils with a high quartz content. The wine is intense and dark, with red and blue berry fruit, black pepper and dark chocolate, subtle hints of vanilla and caramel, and a well-structured palate with plenty of acidity and ripe, firm tannins.

Decant before serving at 16 to 18 degrees. It suits beef short ribs, venison or a rich lamb tagine, and will continue to evolve in the cellar.
