Viña Ventisquero Reserva Pinot Noir 2024

Viña Ventisquero Reserva Pinot Noir is a bright, cool-climate Chilean Pinot from vineyards close to the Pacific coast.

Founded by Gonzalo Vial in the late 1990s, this young and ambitious Chilean house now works with vineyards stretching from the coast to the Andes foothills, matching each grape to the conditions it likes best. Pinot Noir is sourced from the Casablanca Valley, between Santiago and the port of Valparaíso, where morning fog and breezes off the cold Humboldt Current keep temperatures down through summer. That long, cool season lets the fruit ripen slowly and hold on to its natural freshness, giving a Pinot with red-fruited charm and soft tannins. Winemaker Felipe Tosso, who has led the team since the early days, is known for wines that put drinkability first.

Try it slightly cool, at about 14 to 16 degrees. Roast chicken, grilled salmon, duck, mushroom risotto and charcuterie all sit well alongside. Best enjoyed in its youth.
