Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Bourgogne Blanc 2015

Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Bourgogne Blanc is the domaine's regional Chardonnay, drawn from parcels on the edge of the Rully appellation.

Bourgogne Blanc covers Chardonnay from across the region, and what distinguishes one from another is the grower rather than the label. Vincent Dureuil-Janthial makes his at Rully, at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, from younger vines and from parcels that fall just outside the village boundary on lighter limestone soils. The handling is the same as for the wines above it: hand picking, whole-bunch pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts in barrel and several months on lees in used wood before bottling. There is no new oak of consequence. The wine is dry and direct, with citrus fruit and a saline, chalky finish, and it gives a clear picture of the house style at a modest level.

Best drunk in its first few years, while the freshness is at its peak. Serve at 10–12°C with oysters, grilled prawns or a simple green salad with goat's cheese.
