Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Blanc 2015

The domaine's village white, drawn from five separate plots in Rully whose vines span most of a century.

Rully sits where the Côte de Beaune gives way to the Côte Chalonnaise, and white wine is its main business, grown on limestone and marl at a slightly higher, cooler elevation than the villages to the north. Vincent Dureuil-Janthial took the estate on from his father Raymond in 1994 and farms it with his wife Céline — around seventeen to twenty hectares, sixteen of them in Rully, worked organically, with certification given up in 2016 after a season that cost most of the crop. This wine is assembled from five plots planted between the 1920s and the 2000s. The fruit is hand picked and pressed slowly to carry solids into barrel, fermented on indigenous yeasts in barriques of which about a fifth are new, then aged a year or more in wood and four to six months in tank before bottling with minimal sulphur.

Ready from release and it will improve over a few years. Serve at 10–12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or fresh goat's cheese.
