Description
Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Rouge is the domaine's village red, blended from parcels across the commune.
Rully sits at the top of the Côte Chalonnaise, where the limestone slopes of the Côte de Beaune continue south in a broken, gentler line. It is better known for its whites, but the reds have improved markedly, and Vincent Dureuil-Janthial has been central to that. He farms some eighteen hectares around the village and picks by hand at low yields. For this wine the fruit is mostly destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and extracted gently, then aged in barrel for around a year with only a small share of new wood. The result is a village Burgundy of real definition — light on its feet, with clean red fruit and a savoury, mineral finish rather than any softness.
Drinks well from release and will hold for several years. Serve at 16°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom and lentil braise.
