Description
Vincent Pinard Sancerre Nuance is a Sauvignon Blanc from a family domaine in Bué, the village at the heart of Sancerre's limestone slopes.
Sancerre runs across steep hills on the left bank of the upper Loire, where Sauvignon Blanc is planted on three soil types: the chalky Kimmeridgian marl called terres blanches, the shallow limestone gravel of the caillottes, and flinty silex nearest the river. Domaine Vincent Pinard is based in Bué, whose limestone slopes are among the appellation's most celebrated, and is now run by Vincent's sons Clément and Florent. They farm organically, pick by hand and keep yields low, and they are known for giving their Sauvignon time in large, older wood rather than relying solely on stainless steel, which adds texture without imposing oak flavour. Nuance is one of the domaine's core Sancerre bottlings, drawn from their holdings around the village.
Fresh, dry and stony, it suits goat cheese, oysters and grilled white fish; serve at around 10 to 11 degrees.
