Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2023

Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc is an organically grown Chenin Blanc from three Margaret River blocks.

Three organically farmed blocks on the estate contribute, including plantings from 1978 that are among the oldest Chenin vines in Margaret River. The soils are gravelly loam over stony clay, free-draining but moisture-retentive, which keeps the fruit in balance even in a warm year, and 2023 was sunny and warm here. Hand-picked grapes went straight to press on arrival, the juice settled two days, and fermentation was split between stainless steel and older French puncheons. A short maturation preceded blending and a June 2023 bottling. Certification changed nothing about the method, only the farming.

Ripe and intensely flavoured, yellow apple and stone fruit with a phenolic chew and a dry finish. Ten degrees. Match it with roast chicken, pork belly or a Thai green curry; it has the texture to take rich food.
