Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc 2024

Voyager Estate Chenin Blanc is a dry Margaret River Chenin pressed straight to tank on picking.

Low yields are the first decision here, and the second is speed: the hand-picked fruit is pressed to tank the moment it arrives, so nothing dulls the primary character. After settling, a small portion went into older French puncheons for fermentation and maturation, which adds weight and texture to what would otherwise be a very direct wine. Blending and bottling followed in June 2024. Three organically farmed blocks supply the grapes, some off vines planted in 1978, on gravelly loam over stony clay close enough to the coast to show it.

Daisy-fresh, with blossom, yellow apple and Meyer lemon over a talcy, stony depth; the texture has real chew and the finish a touch of honey. Serve at 10 degrees. Good with crab, pork rillettes or a sharp goat's cheese.
