Voyager Estate Vivid Red 2024

Voyager Estate Vivid Red is a medium-bodied Margaret River red blend bottled without fining or filtration.

Second time around, the blend holds its shape: Shiraz, Tempranillo, Grenache and Merlot, off a sun-soaked western season. Fermentation happened in small open-top vessels with 30 per cent of the fruit as whole berries and the rest left as bunches, then fourteen days on skins before pressing to mature barriques for three months. No fining, no filtration, no added sulphur. The style takes its cue from Tim Shand's Yarra Valley years at Punt Road, and it has already become a fixture in the range, made with warm-weather drinking in mind more than cellaring.

Bright berry fruit, pepper spice and a savoury depth underneath, with tannic grip and sappy acidity cutting the weight. Fourteen to sixteen degrees. Serve with grilled sausages, a lamb and eggplant bake, or a good ragu.
