Weinbach Marc de Muscat 45° 700ml

Weinbach Marc de Muscat is a grape marc distilled at Domaine Weinbach in Alsace from the estate's own Muscat pomace, bottled at 45 per cent.

Marc d'Alsace is made by distilling the skins and pulp left after pressing, rather than wine itself, and the tradition is well established among Alsace growers. The Faller family at Domaine Weinbach, at the foot of the Schlossberg in Kaysersberg, are better known for their aromatic whites but also produce a small range of eaux-de-vie and marc from estate-grown fruit. Distillation is on a traditional Holstein still, and the aim throughout is to carry as much of the original fruit aromatic into the spirit as possible rather than to build character from cask. In the Muscat version that shows as grapey floral lift, the same signature the variety gives in the estate's wines, with notable purity on both nose and palate.

Serve in small measures at room temperature or lightly chilled after a meal, with fresh fruit, a fruit tart or simply black coffee.
