Description
Weingut Adams Ingelheim Spätburgunder is a cool-climate Pinot Noir from the village vineyards around Ingelheim in Rheinhessen, Germany.
Ingelheim am Rhein has a viticultural history stretching back some two thousand years and was once celebrated as Germany's red wine capital in the early twentieth century; local tradition even credits Charlemagne, whose imperial palace once stood in the town, with helping bring Pinot vines to the region in the early ninth century. Today the area's limestone-rich soils and reliably dry, sunny growing season have made it a magnet for a new generation of quality-focused Spätburgunder producers. Weingut Adams, a ten-hectare family estate run by winemaker Simone Adams, farms exclusively Burgundian varieties across a mosaic of small parcels, using organic and regenerative methods with painstaking hand work from pruning through to harvest. Wines are made bone-dry, unfiltered and unfined, allowing each site's character to come through with minimal intervention.
This is a lighter, precise style of German Pinot Noir, an easy-drinking, food-friendly red for those who enjoy the finesse and restraint of cool-climate Spätburgunder.
