Weingut Bernhard Ott Der Ott Grüner Veltliner is the blend the family puts its own name to, drawn from the estate's best parcels rather than a single site.

Bernhard Ott farms at Feuersbrunn in the Wagram, the belt of deep wind blown loess that runs along the north bank of the Danube, and is a fourth generation grower widely regarded as one of the leading interpreters of Grüner Veltliner. The estate is farmed biodynamically and works with hand harvesting, whole bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation and long ageing on fine lees in large neutral vessels. Der Ott is assembled from the top vineyard parcels, the idea being that the blend shows the house style at its fullest. Malolactic fermentation is avoided and new oak plays no visible part.

Serve at around 10 to 12 degrees with roast pork, veal or richer fish dishes; it will develop in bottle for a decade or more.
