Weingut Dr. H. Thanisch Berncasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese is a Mosel Riesling of greater ripeness and depth than the estate's Kabinett bottling, sourced from the historic Badstube vineyard above Bernkastel.

The Badstube vineyard takes its name from the medieval hot springs and bathhouses once found around Bernkastel, and its steep, slate-strewn slopes are among the town's oldest and most historic Riesling sites. Weingut Dr. H. Thanisch is one of the Mosel's great historic estates, its winegrowing roots reaching back generations to Dr. Hugo Thanisch, who in the 1880s acquired holdings in the neighbouring Berncasteler Doctor vineyard, still regarded today as one of Germany's most celebrated sites. The estate remains family-run, farming steep, hand-tended slate vineyards along the Middle Mosel with methods suited to the region's cool climate and dramatic terrain.

As a Spätlese, it carries a touch more richness than a Kabinett while retaining the racy acidity the Mosel is known for, making it a versatile wine for the table.
