West Cape Howe Cape to Cape Shiraz 2024

West Cape Howe Cape to Cape Shiraz is a plush, savoury Western Australian Shiraz with plenty of dark fruit.

Cool-climate Shiraz from the Great Southern leans toward spice and savoury complexity, and the supplier describes this release as distinctively Mount Barker, the winery's home. Part of the good-value Cape to Cape range, the 2024 is deep crimson with purple hints, showing olive, five spice, dried thyme, bay leaf and white pepper alongside plum, fig and violets. The palate is plush and generous, with red and dark cherry and wild strawberry wrapped in fine, silky tannins, finishing soft, juicy and long.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with barbecued lamb chops, beef and mushroom pie or pepper steak. It drinks well now and will hold for a few years.
