West Cape Howe Styx Gully Chardonnay 2022

West Cape Howe Styx Gully Chardonnay is a fine, silky cool-climate Chardonnay from Western Australia's Great Southern.

The fruit is grown in the cool Great Southern and made in a finer, more subtle style: barrel-fermented and matured in oak, with malolactic fermentation avoided to keep natural acidity and freshness. It is one of the premium whites from the Mount Barker-based winery. The 2022 is light gold, with cashew, toasted sesame and baked peach on the nose. The palate is silky and well integrated, with crème brûlée, cashew and stone fruit framed by subtle, toasty oak, finishing long and dry.

Serve chilled but not icy. It is lovely with crab linguine, pan-fried barramundi or chicken with tarragon cream, and it will continue to develop with more bottle age.
