Whistler Atypical Shiraz 2024

Whistler Atypical Shiraz is a deliberately lighter, fresher take on Barossa Shiraz.

The name is the point: where the valley is known for density, this is made to be drunk young and cold-ish, with a portion of whole bunches, wild yeast and six months in French oak rather than a long maturation. The label's owl refers to the tawny frogmouths that visit the estate's G and H Shiraz blocks. Fruit comes from biodynamic estate vineyards and selected Barossa floor sites, and the wine is bottled without fining.

Serve slightly cool at 15 degrees with charcuterie, roast chicken or a barbecue. Drink within five years.
