Windows Estate Petit Lot Semillon 2022

Windows Estate Petit Lot Semillon is a dry organic white grown on an ironstone ridge in Margaret River.

This variety usually turns up in Margaret River as the junior partner in a blend, which makes a straight bottling unusual, and it is only the third Chris Davies has produced in over a decade. The source is the Home Block, planted in 1996 and farmed organically, free-draining, north-south oriented, sitting on ironstone and laterite. Hand-picking happens at first light in pristine conditions, fermentation runs on wild yeast, and maturation is split between oak and clay. The soil's mineral content translates directly into the wine's dewy, slate-like character.

Grassy varietal tone with citrus and white flowers, then oyster-shell minerality and a fine acid backbone that points to cellaring. Serve at 11 degrees. Good with raw fish, a green salad with feta, or crab cooked simply.
